VUHL becomes Race Of Champions partner

20 January 2017

Mexican sportscar manufacturer VUHL agrees a five-year partnership with the Race of Champions starting at Marlins Park in Miami, USA.

“The Race of Champions demands a car that is fast and dynamic,” said Terry Grant, Race of Champions official stunt & test driver, “the mid-engined VUHL 05 ROC Edition is highly dynamic which is perfect for putting the world’s best drivers through their paces. The track requires a car which is quick off the line and can hold its own with the rear hanging out. Going from 0-60 in 3.2 seconds definitely gets my thumbs up! This very fun car will entertain the fans in the US and across the globe.”

VUHL also plans to launch its US website, VUHL05.US.

The VUHL 05s that will be used in the upcoming Race of Champions competition have received some performance updates and upgrades to ensure that they can meet the demands of some of the fastest drivers in the world. Grant has overseen the development and testing of the brakes, suspension and steering rack for the Race of Champions’ visit to Miami.

As well as the above changes the cars will also feature unique carbon fibre wheels, weighing just 4.5 kg each while a bespoke rear wing is featured for additional aerodynamic grip helping drivers use as much power as is available from the two-litre Ford EcoBoost engine.

Ten Race of Champions specification VUHL 05 “ROC Edition” cars will be available for sale after the weekend of racing festivities in Miami.

“This announcement is a huge milestone for VUHL,” said VUHL co-founder, Guillermo Echeverria. “It’s the culmination of a lot of hard work and continues an already successful year. We are tremendously proud to start 2017 by having the world’s best racers drive our car around the challenging Race Of Champions circuit in Miami. We can’t wait to excite fans in the stadium and around the world.”
