Video: On board with the Nio EP9 electric supercar at Nürburgring
FIA Formula E for the first time has released full on board footage of the NextEV Nio EP9 electric supercar lapping the Nurburgring in 7m 05s.
The car beat previous electric lap records by 17s seconds back in 2016 by holding power at 80 per cent to stop the batteries overheating during the seven minute all-out attack.
In February the Chinese manufactured supercar drove itself autonomously around the 3.4-mile Circuit of the Americas in Austin, Texas at 2m 40.33 seconds with a top speed of 160mph.
It then went on to beat the fastest COTA lap time for a production car with a driver, achieving a lap time of 2min 11.30 seconds, reaching a top speed of 170 mph.
