Patent filing fully reveals 2018 Renault Megane RS

17 July 2017

Although the Renault Megane RS isn’t set to be officially revealed until the Frankfurt Motor Show in September, a number of patent images have appeared online showing off the new hot hatch in full.

Published by the World Intellectual Property Organisation, the images show that the new RS will feature some aggressive touches such as heavily flared wheel arches and a lowered roofline. The rear-end has also been tweaked, with a centrally mounted exhaust, a functioning diffuser and a widened bumper.

The images come after Renault confirmed that the RS will be equipped with four-wheel steering and the option of a track-focused Cup chassis. Customers will also be able to choose between a dual-clutch EDC automatic and a six speed manual gearbox. The new RS’s engine has yet to be confirmed, but it is expected to offer about 300 bhp.
