Hotter SEAT Leon Cupra revealed

4 September 2017

Seat has revealed a new, hotter version of its Leon Cupra, called the Cupra R, which will be shown off to the public at the upcoming motorshow in Frankfurt.

The new car, which will be the most powerful ever produced by the firm, is also set to be its most exclusive given that it is limited to just 799 units. It will be offered with both a manual and dual-clutch DSG gearbox, with power going to the front wheels. The Cupra R will use a gently uprated version of the standard Cupra’s 2-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine, giving a power increase of 10 bhp to 306 bhp.

Other changes to the R version include modified camber on the front axle, and tweaks to the adaptive suspension and Brembo brakes, to offer a sportier ride, which will go along nicely with the more aggressive styling. In addition the R comes with a new, sportier exhaust system.

The Leon Cupra R will be available at the end of 2017.
