New TVR Griffith revealed at Goodwood Revival

8 September 2017

TVR has unveiled its all new sports car, the TVR Griffith, at the Goodwood Revival. The Griffith is the first new TVR to be launched since the company was resurrected in British hands.

The car stays true to the marque’s heritage, while employing cutting-edge engineering. It has an exterior designed to be both attractive and aerodynamically efficient, with a classic sports car silhouette accented with air intakes to generate downforce and cooling. To fully embrace ‘the spirit of driving’ the new Griffith uses intelligent engineering instead of electronic driver aids. For example it is only the second front-engine production car to feature a flat floor, giving the Griffith full ground-effect aerodynamics for high speed stability and exceptional handling abilities.

Adding to the dynamics is the use of Gordon Murray Design’s iStream architecture, which uses carbon composite structure and body panels to give the Griffith a weight of just 1250 kg, exceptional torsional rigidity and a perfect 50:50 weight distribution.

The Griffith is powered by a naturally aspirated 5.0-litre Cosworth-enhanced V8, giving 400 bhp/tonne driven though a six-speed manual gearbox, which propels the car to 60 mph in less than four seconds and on to a top speed of more than 200 mph.

“This is unmistakably a TVR, a British muscle car that’s as awesome and brutal as it is charismatic and refined,” said TVR’s Les Edgar. “Importantly, the new TVR offers levels of technical sophistication, comfort, reliability and practicality never seen by the brand before.”
