Porsche 911 GT2 RS reportedly sets Nurburgring record

22 September 2017

The 691 bhp Porsche 911 GT2 RS has, according to reports, lapped the Nurburgring Nordschleife in less than seven minutes.

Porsche reportedly booked the track for a full two evenings, when it set multiple flying laps. The car was photographed crossing the start line, and then pictured once again when it returned. The timestamps on the photographs suggests a lap time of 6:56s for the GT2 RS, but Dale Lomas, who took the pictures, reckons the time may be closer to 6:54 given the Porsche had already crossed the line by the time the second photo was taken. Speculation is mounting that the 911 GT2 RS may even be quicker than the Lamborghini Huracan Performante, which posted a record lap time of 6:52 in spring 2017.
