New SEAT Ibiza unveiled at Geneva Motor Show

9 March 2017

SEAT has revealed the all-new Ibiza at the Geneva Motor Show, based on the Spanish brand’s best-selling model with more than 5.4 million units sold.

“SEAT is in a phase of consolidation and growth and we are working to become one of the most dynamic organisations in our industry” says Luca de Meo, chairman of the Executive Committee of SEAT.

“The new SEAT Ibiza will make a great leap forward for the brand and it is called to set a turning point in the segment”.

Now in its fifth generation, the new Ibiza has been developed in Barcelona and, according to the brand, is a “decisive step forward in the future of SEAT”.

This is because, firstly, it demonstrates the Volkswagen Group’s latest technology, the MQB-A0 platform (Modular Quer Baukasten), marking the first time this new platform will be featured in this segment. Secondly, because the new Ibiza comes equipped with the most advanced technology, dynamism and a notable increase in interior space.

The new Ibiza also benefits from a new, fresh and sporty design, reflecting the unmistakable SEAT DNA, as the surfaces have been accentuated to provide a more sculptured and aerodynamic look.

“The new Ibiza embraces SEAT’s design DNA and ensures a fantastic dynamic performance,” added Dr. Matthias Rabe, vice president of SEAT for Research and Development. “With the new modular MQB-A0 platform the SEAT Ibiza rises to technologies from higher segments and in terms of comfort, it improves markedly its interior roominess and variability.”
